What is a Social Tribe? Mississippi College's form of Greek life consists of service clubs for men and social tribes for women. A social tribe functions much like a sorority, with weekly meetings, fun events, and opportunities to serve and grow as a sisterhood. Jesus Christ is at the heart of all five social tribes on campus. Each sisterhood has a unique way of serving and displaying Christ throughout campus and surrounding areas. A social tribe is a great way to meet new people, get involved on campus, and make the most of your time at MC!
What do Social Tribes do? Each social tribe hosts fun events throughout the school year. Some of these events are exclusive to that particular tribe. Others are held partnered with another club or tribe on campus. Social tribes also participate in several campus wide activities such as Derby Week, a week of huge competitions between the clubs and tribes. Along with the fun, social tribes participate in multiple community service opportunities throughout the school year. Our favorite is the Big Event, which takes place during the spring semester.
Is it worth it? Absolutely! Lifelong memories and friendships unlike any other can be found within these sisterhoods. A social tribe is more than just a fun group of people to spend time with. These sisters are accountability partners, best friends and family. Ask any member of a social tribe to tell you her story!
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO BE IN A TRIBE? THE COST VARIES DEPENDING ON EACH TRIBE AND DEPENDING ON THE OFFICIAL COST THAT IS SET BY THE COUNCIL. THE INDIVIDUAL COST FOR A PERSON CAN BE AFFECTED BY THINGS SUCH SEMESTER DUES, FORMAL/INFORMAL COSTS, T-SHIRTS, ETC.
